We tend to get caught up in what our friends and peers are doing and forget that life is not a race. Today I want to remind you to be a little more kind to yourself and to be more loving towards yourself. To take it easy and to understand that everything happens for a reason and all will work out in the end.
Being a working 21-year-old, I sometimes feel like my path is very slow and that I need to change ways, I tend to forget that everyone has their own clock. I have realized that I am too hard on myself and that I tend to focus on the negative side of things instead of recognizing all that I have achieved so far.
I really want to improve on the way I treat myself and be more loving and that is why I looked up 5 ways to be more loving to yourself.
5 ways to be loving to yourself.
Dinner dates alone.
Most of us are so dependent on always having people around that we find it unusual to go out alone. I challenge you to dress up and go to one of your favourite restaurants for a meal alone. It’s probably going to feel awkward but trust me it will do you good. You will have time to think, focus on yourself and just breathe.

To show yourself some love, surprise yourself by getting yourself a gift. We all the time think that gifting is supposed to happen to other people and that it should only happen on special occasions, but I am here to tell you that that’s not true. It is encouraged that you appreciate yourself and thank yourself for the being that you are.
Order yourself a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, a video game or anything that will make your heart flutter. I challenge you to get yourself something nice every month just to show appreciation to yourself.
Write yourself a letter.
A lot of us don’t have friends to talk to about things that happen in our life and so to fill that gap I recommend writing to yourself. This will help you realize many things about yourself. Always make sure that you are as open as can be when writing to yourself and try by all means to comfort rather than attack.
Writing yourself a letter will also help you release a lot of feelings which can help you be happier.
Sleep and take a rest!
Many are against taking breaks and just letting your body rest but I for one encourage you to give your body the time it needs to recover. I always say that you cannot give your out most best when your body is feeling tired so please take breaks when you need to and don’t overwork yourself.
The best love you can give yourself is understanding and appreciating all that you are. Once you understand yourself, you become content with who you are which equals happiness. I encourage you to take some time with to understand the person that you are so you can work on bettering yourself.
I hope that this post will help both you and I in being little happier and taking this easier. Life is a roller-coaster, but we can definitely make the most of it if we are more loving to ourselves.
